Abstract
The article focuses on the intellectual origins for Al-Qaeda. Al-Qaeda stems from the synthesis the teachings of Afghan mujahideen leader Abdallah 'Azzam and the Saudi opposition movement which arose in the early 1990 in response to a perceived Western cultural attack on the Muslim world. Its formation arose from the argument that the Muslim world should harm the West in the same way the West harms the Muslim world.
