Abstract

A simple method is presented for adding flexibility to quadratic Bézier curves. The new curve is also piecewise quadratic with a doubled number of quadratic segments, but with the same number of inflection points and the same number of possible curvature discontinuities. In the case of convex control polygon, the new curve can be designed to be G2. The generalization to surfaces is also presented.
