Although myalgia is commonly associated with viral infections in children, the appearance of myositis is very rare. We describe 2 children with transient myositis, documented with laboratory examinations, which was associated with viral infections. Previously published cases are reviewed. Physicians should be alert to this rare association, and, as the natural course is usually benign, unnecessary investigations or treatments should be avoided.
