Acute renal failure, reported in a two and a half year old boy, was treated with cyclophosphamide and allopurinol for stage IV abdominal Burkitt's lymphoma. The urinary excretion of both xanthine and hypoxanthine was high, whereas serum uric acid fell as its urinary excretion was low. Discontinuation of the administration of allopurinol gradually led to a complete recovery of the kidney function.
