Abstract

Rupture of the left ventricular (LV) free wall is a major cause of death in acute myocardial infarction (AMI).1 Most patients die within a few minutes of the rupture. However, some may survive long enough to reach the operating room and undergo surgical treatment. In these patients the diagnosis of acute LV rupture and tamponade is usually confirmed by typical physical signs, echocardiography, and typical pressure tracings.2 We report the angiographic findings in a patient with acute tamponade due to AMI, which has not been previously described.
