Abstract

We examined and evaluated a 42-year-old woman with recurrent deteriorating non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy of unknown cause. Hematologic work-up revealed that she was heterozygous for activated protein C resistance; therefore, an anticoagulant treatment was administered. APC resistance with a point mutation in factor V might be a cause for anterior ischemic optic neuropathy. Further study with a large group is needed to evaluate our findings.
