N2 - Photosystem I (PS I) reaction center, a chlorophyll protein complex located in the thylakoid membranes of chloroplasts and cyanobacteria, was covalently coupled to Carbon-nanotubes (CNT) through certain chemical reactions. The hybrid systems were characterized by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and UV-VIS spectroscopy, which indicated a high degree of conjugation between the PS I and the CNTs. The photoconductivity of CNTs was measured for ensembles of CNTs and for individual single-wall CNTs, which demonstrated the application of CNTs as photodetectors and infrared-light emitters. The various architectures of CNTs-PS I hybrids showed the potential to be applied as building blocks for molecular optoelectronic circuits.
