Abstract

An innovative program introduces fifth-year medical students to geriatrics and critically focuses their attention on the associated, vitally important, public health network. The one day course is included in the obligatory clerkship for Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine. The medical student subsequently approaches the option of a clerkship in the sixth year with a more positive understanding of the subject of geriatrics as a whole. This one-day program provides a good introduction to geriatric education, judging by the interest expressed by the students in each of the four years that the program has been running.
