A novel matrix formulation for the propagation of modulated light in birefringent optical systems

Abstract

The propagation of modulated light in birefringent optical systems is studied via a novel 4x4 time-dependent matrix. Using this formulation, the outcome of any linear operation on the output instantaneous Stokes vector can be fully characterized with only a few measurements.
