A model for crisis intervention with Israeli soldiers during compulsory military service

The young Israeli's encounter with the military creates a unique interaction: the young soldier, generally in late adolescence is at the height of exploration and crystallization of his identity; at the same time he finds himself in the very unique and restrictive setting of military service. The army dictates its own answers to the variety of problems the young person is endeavouring to solve. Unquestionably, this sort of encounter is liable to create a variety of crisis situations. The IDF Central Outpatient Mental Health Clinic treats these soldiers in crisis within a framework using a model which has been developed for this purpose.
