Abstract

The title compounds, 5 and 7, have been synthesized by the action of lithium methoxide on γ,γ-dimethylallenyl thiocyanate and selenocyanate, respectively. A multistep mechanism involving bis-γ,γ-dimethylallenyl disulfide or diselenide, as key intermediates, is suggested.
