Abstract

The Routh approximation method which has been suggested for the reduction of stable discrete time linear systems to guarantee stable models, uses the bilinear transformation. A stability theorem in the z-plane is presented which is shown to be an equivalent of the Routh criterion. An efficent method that avoids the bilinear transformation is presented by which the Routh disrete models are derived directly in the z-plane.
