"ספר זה מבקש להגיש לקורא סיכום של מהלך המלחמה, תובנות בנוגע לתהליכים שחוותה סוריה מבית - סביב משטר, מדינה וחברה - ודיון בהשלכות המלחמה, שהתחוללה בה על סביבתה. בתוך כך דן הספר בשלוש סוגיות נוספות שעניינן: המהפיכה בסוריה ואתגר האסלאם הקיצוני, לבנון וחזבאללה בצל המלחמה, ולבסוף, ישראל והמהפכה - כצופה מעורבת מן הצד". -- מהמעטפת האחורית.
