Abstract

How did the Herut party—with its small size and extreme, rigid national ideology—transform into a party that attracts a large following? This study deals with the internal conditions that transformed the Herut movement from a small opposition party to a ruling party as well as the conditions that contributed to its consolidation as a central axis of the new dominant party—the Likud.
