Abstract

The design of a specific system to provide a run-time environment for remote execution of various synopses, known as τ-Synopses system, is discussed. Data synopses are defined as concise representations of data sets that enable effective processing of approximate queries to the data sets. The τ-Synopses system enables easy registration of new synopses from remote SOAP-enabled platforms, captures query workloads and can serve as a research platform for experimental evaluation and comparison of different synopses. The key features of the τ-Synopses system include pluggable integration, multiple synopses, remote execution, managed synopses, workload support and research platform.
