Abstract
Measurements of opening angles and angular distribution were made on electron pairs, found in nuclear emulsion exposed to 4.2 GeV π--mesons. An iteration method is developed to deduce the π0-meson energy spectrum from the opening angle distribution of the pairs. Comparison between the observed angular distribution of pairs, and that from a Monte-Carlo calculation, based on π±-mesons emitted from 4.2 GeV stars, shows a distinct forward π0-component. The forward π0-mesons are attributed to charge-exchange reactions of small momentum transfer.
