Fuad A. Iraqi is a molecular geneticist and world leader in dissecting complex studies of disease etiology and host susceptibility to infectious and chronic diseases using animal models (mice) and target species, including Humans and livestock. His Current research is focused on host susceptibility to various diseases, dental infection (Periodontitis), Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma (HNSCC), Obesity, and type 2 Diabetes (T2D) and its complications, including cardiovascular diseases (CVD), intestinal cancer, periodontitis, Alzheimer diseases (AD), and mapping modifiers for colon cancer development. For studying these diseases, he uses the mouse model, especially the unique and powerful mouse resource population known as the Collaborative Cross (CC), which is under development in his lab, for studying systems genetics, including performing quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapping, assessing gene expression profiles by RNAseq using deep sequence technology, that will lead of identifying and cloning the genes underlying the QTL, and subsequently recall the ortholog genes in human. Editorial, leadership, and societal responsibilities: Editor board-The Open Lung Cancer Journal (since 2009) Associate partner for German Network for Systems Genetics (GeNetSys), Helmholtz Virtual Institute, Braunschweig, Germany (2007-2011) Member, the management committee of EU Systems Genetics Network-SYSGENET (2009-13) Nominated and Elected member (one of seven) of the board of Trustees of MATIMOP (Israeli Industry Center) for R&D (2010-2013), Chairman board of trustees of MATIMOP (2012-2013), Member of International Advisory board, Careif (The Centre for Applied Research and Evaluation) based in Queens Marry University, London UK (2011-Current), Head of the Israeli node of European Mouse Mutant Archiving (EMMA) (since 2012), Member of the Infrafrontier I3 consortia (2012-2016), Member Board of Trustees of Triangle Research and Development Centre (TRDC), Kfar Qara, Israel (2012-2023). Publications: 169 papers in peer-reviewed Journals, 27 book chapters, and full papers presented in Scientific meetings. His H-index is 42, his i10 index is 100, and he has over 245 abstracts presented at scientific conferences and a total citation of 7855. Awards: Alon-MAOF Fellowship (Associate Professor Fellowship 2007-2010); Eshkol Fund (PhD fellowship-1986-1990); Eshkol Fund (Postdoctoral grant 1990-1991). Students supervised: 23 M.Sc. students, 13 PhD students, and 7 Postdocs supervised.
